A sample design brief for a fictional clothing company called Apparel X. I completed the project while completing my master's degree to hone skills such as branding, creating style guides, mock ups built to spec, and responsive design. The work here encompasses my presentation of findings, preparatory documents such as content analysis diagrams, and responsive designs for web and mobile platforms. Sample photos are sourced from http://www.thereformation.com, https://www.everlane.com, and http://www.theselby.com.
I conducted research to find state of the art examples of green clothing design brands and noted outstanding features of their branding and design aesthetics.
I took inspiration from leading brands to design my own branding for my fictional company. I endeavoured to create a brand image that evoked green living, clean lines, and cutting edge fashion.
I decided to use photographs from some of my favourite clothing brands for the web design. For the actual clothing I used images from Reformation, a women's clothing line that emphasizes environmentally friendly practices, to show the process I chose pictures of Everlane, a another clothing brand that prides themselves on social responsibility, and for demonstrating the lifestyle I used photos from the photography blog the Selby, to show the quirky and creative aesthetic I envisioned for potential customers.
Content Analysis Diagrams
The content analysis diagrams helped me to organize and assess every asset in the site and how I would implement it. I created one for each page of the brief, Homepage, Women's Apparel, and Our Story. (Click the page name to view content analysis diagrams)
I created hi-fi mock ups for both web and mobile platforms to demonstrate responsive design. The mockups were all created to spec per platform.
